The road stretched endlessly in front of you. You were a police officer, but at that moment, as you drove down that lonely highway, you didn't feel the rigidity of your uniform or the weight of your job.
Your mind traveled back to the past, to moments you would rather forget. Years had passed since you lost him. Since that night when he simply disappeared and you never heard from him again.
Suddenly, the lights of a patrol car reflected in your rearview mirror. The blue glow made your heart leap in your chest. Quickly, you checked your speed, confirming that you had been speeding. You cursed under your breath.
You stopped the car and parked it by the side of the road. The blue light continued to shine behind you, but something twisted in your stomach.
You prepared for a short exchange, a speeding ticket, something routine. But when the driver's door opened and you looked up, something made you stop.
There he was. In a traffic police uniform.
Hwang Jun-ho.
You couldn't believe it. Your mind went blank for a moment, as if time itself had stopped. He was staring at you, his dark eyes reflecting something you couldn't identify. For a moment, the air between the two of you thickened, dense with the memories of a past that had never completely faded.
"Good evening" he said, his voice as deep as you remembered, but with a tone you hadn't heard before. "Did you know you were speeding?"
Your body tensed instantly, but it wasn't because of the speeding. It was because of the surprise. For the feeling that the past had returned to hit you hard. You didn't know what to say, you just looked into his eyes, searching for a sign that what you saw in front of you was nothing but an illusion.
"Jun-ho…" you whispered, the word slipping from your lips as if it weren't yours, as if you couldn't believe what you were seeing.
He nodded slowly, his expression unchanged, but there was something in his gaze, something that made you doubt everything you had believed. How was it possible that he was here?
"Didn't you expect to see me here?" he asked, his tone now softer, but with a weight of nostalgia that seemed to hang in the air. "You thought you would never see me again".
A knot formed in your throat. You had asked yourself so many times what had happened to him. If he would ever come back. But the pain of the separation, the void left by his disappearance, was still fresh in your mind. And now you had him in front of you, alive, real, and in a uniform you had never imagined.
You didn't know if you had been waiting for this moment or dreading it.
"Why... are you in transit?" the question slipped out almost unintentionally, but Jun Ho cut it off before you could finish it.
"I needed to start over. Change of scenery" His voice became softer, as if the words he was saying had too great a weight to let go.
You stared at him, unsure if you could believe his words. The situation was surreal. How had he ended up here? What had happened to him since his disappearance? The last time you heard from him, it was when they found him adrift in the ocean, almost lifeless, recovering from everything he had endured. But now he was here, in front of you, as if time hadn't passed at all.
"I thought you had... died." The phrase came out before you could stop it.
Jun Ho let out a sigh, his eyes softened for a second.
"Everyone thought the same," he said, with a faint smile that didn't quite reach his eyes. "But I survived. And here I am".
The silence settled between the two of them, heavy, full of unasked questions, of unmentioned memories. And in that moment, something inside you broke. Something you had tried to contain for so long. The need to understand what had happened, to comprehend how it had all been. And more than anything, the need to feel it close again.
"I didn't think I would ever see you again," you said, almost like a whisper.
Jun-ho didn't respond immediately. Instead, he leaned toward the passenger seat, his face now just a few centimeters from yours. The proximity made you tremble. You couldn't deny what you felt, what you had always felt for him. The connection you shared, even after everything that happened, was undeniable.
Suddenly, he moved closer, his lips almost touching yours. A shiver ran through your body as you felt his closeness, and the air became thick. The memories, the emotions, everything you had kept inside overflowed in that moment.
Without thinking, you kissed him.
The kiss was immediate, as if time hadn't passed, as if everything were back to how it used to be. The touch of his lips on yours ignited something within you, something you had kept extinguished for years. The spark, the fire you shared, had never gone out.
Jun-ho's hands traced your face, as if he feared you would vanish at any moment. The gentleness with which he touched you contrasted with the urgency in his kiss. It didn't matter what had happened, what had occurred in the past. At that moment, only the present mattered.
The car no longer seemed like a closed space. The connection between the two of them was palpable, almost electric. You pulled away from his kiss for a moment, taking a breath, but before you could say anything, he leaned in again. This time, he was more determined, more firm.
His hands traveled down your neck, tracing the contour of your skin, and a shiver ran through your body. You felt how desire took hold of both of you, how the chemistry that had remained between you hadn't faded with time. It was as if it had never left.
"I've missed you so much," he said softly, as he kissed you again.
Jun-ho's words made your heart race even faster. You felt as if you had returned to the past, when everything was simpler, when there were no distances, when you both shared dreams and promises. But that promise was broken, and now only the shadows of what once was remained.
The tension in the air was rising, and you couldn't stop thinking about everything that had happened between the two of you. But in that moment, the only thing that mattered was him. All you wanted was to feel him close again.
Jun-ho looked you in the eyes, and without a word, his hands began to unbutton your uniform. The desire grew with every second, with every caress, with every touch of his skin against yours.
You moved to the passenger side, sliding over his lap as his hands removed your uniform. You nestled against his chest, feeling his lips kiss your shoulders, while his hands brushed against your bare skin. The touch of his fingers tracing your curves made you gasp.
Jun-ho kissed you again, deepening the kiss, and his hands moved to the back of your body, towards your buttocks. The gesture made you tremble, and you felt something within you beginning to give in. The tension you had held for so long was fading away.
He leaned close to your ears and whispered something, words you couldn't quite understand, but that seemed to promise something beyond that moment. And instead of waiting, his fingers slid between your thighs, searching for the spot he knew would drive you wild.
The caress of his fingers was soft, tempting, as if they were about to make a promise. The closeness of his body, the proximity of his mouth over you, the softness of his fingers on you, it was all as if you were returning to the past. Everything was as if they had never been apart.
Your breath caught when his fingers found the spot. The desire intensified in an instant. The excitement had brought you to a point you didn't want to leave, and the touch of his hand on you was too much to resist.
You moved slowly over his lap, feeling the bulge of his pants against your thighs. The friction was inevitable, but Jun-ho didn't seem to mind. Instead, he moved with me, his fingers slowly penetrating you. The moans that escaped your throat were involuntary, and Jun Ho muffled them with a kiss. The rhythm of his fingers increased, the penetration deeper and more rhythmic. You couldn't hold out much longer.
Suddenly, Jun Ho stopped you. His fingers left you with a softness that made you gasp. But before you could protest, Jun-ho leaned closer to your ear and whispered.
"I want to feel you" His words made you lose your composure completely. The air in the car had become dense, heavy with desire.
I didn't need any more stimulation. Quickly, you took off your underwear and sat on his lap again.
You slid your hand between his pants, caressing his erection. The sensation of his skin, soft and warm under your touch, was all you needed. You slid it down, revealing his erection in all its glory. It was just as you remembered, big and thick, ready to be fucked.
You didn't take any more time to think. There was no more time for that. You moved over his erection, the position of the car forced you to be the one on top, and that was exactly what you wanted. The position of control was yours at that moment.
You sat on him, his erection brushing against the edge of your entrance, but without penetrating. The torture was as good as it was painful. The friction was all you needed to reach the climax, but it was also what made you want more.
Suddenly, his arms enveloped you, and he pulled you towards him. The movement was abrupt, and his erection sank into you in an instant. The penetration was stronger than you expected, but also more pleasurable.
The scream that escaped your lips was involuntary, but the pleasure was undeniable. Jun-ho moved beneath you, pushing his erection inside you over and over again. Each thrust made you tense a little more, made you sit a little deeper on his cock.
The position of the car made sex a bit more uncomfortable, but that was the last thing on your mind. At that moment, all that mattered was the feeling of having him inside you again, feeling his breath on you, having his body in contact with yours.
"Tell me you haven't forgotten me," you whisper in his ear.
The request was simple, but what lay behind it was much more than just words.
"I have never forgotten you," you replied sincerely, your words coming out in gasps. "I will never be able to do it".
Jun Ho smiled at you, his eyes shining in the darkness of the car. His arms tightened around you, and he pushed a little deeper inside you. Your breath caught for a moment, the pleasure rising to a new level.
"Then, tell me that you will always love me" he whispered again.
The words slipped from your lips without thinking.
"Yes, I always loved you. I always will".
Jun-ho smiled again, but this time, there was something in his eyes, an emotion that seemed to shine like fire. His arms tightened around you a little more, and he began to move beneath you again. The position was uncomfortable, but it didn't matter. All that mattered was the rhythm, the feel of his cock inside you.
Their breathing became labored. The pleasure intensified with each thrust, but it wasn't just the sex that made you lose your composure. It was the closeness of having him there, of having him back in your life.
Their breathing became labored. The pleasure intensified with each thrust, but it wasn't just the sex that made you lose your composure. It was the closeness of having him there, of having him back in your life.
When you reached the climax, the scream that came out of you was not just one of pleasure. It was one of liberation, of having released everything you had been holding back for years.
Jun-ho arrived just a moment later, his body tensing beneath you as he came. The warm fluid spilled inside you, and you felt his erection pulsing within you.
Both of your breathing became gentle, and for a moment, there were no words between you. Only the sound of the air moving in the car was audible. Jun-ho gently stroked your hair as you leaned on his shoulder, feeling his skin against yours.
"You won't give me a ticket for having sex in the car, will you?" you joked a moment later.
Jun Ho laughed softly, his lips brushing against your hair.
"No" He smiled in the darkness. "I think you've already paid me in full".
You laughed softly and leaned a little more into his arms.

A Surprising Reunion
Tumblr media
Squid Game Master list
It had been years since Jun Ho had last seen his older brother, the man he had once looked up to, before everything had shattered. After all the chaos, the secrecy, and the horrors of the Squid Game operation, Jun Ho had believed his brother was gone. He had watched as his brother fell—believed him dead in that cruel, unyielding game. But now, as he sat in the quiet warmth of his home, his two-year-old son babbling happily in the living room, everything was about to change.
The doorbell rang.
Y/n glanced up from the kitchen where she was busy preparing dinner. The clock on the wall read 6:30, and it was a little odd for anyone to be visiting at this hour. She wiped her hands on a towel and moved toward the door, wondering who it could be.
As she opened it, her eyes widened in confusion.
Standing in the doorway was a man she never thought she would see again. He was dressed in black, his posture commanding, but there was no mistaking the familiar, sharp features—the same eyes, the same jawline. It was him.
“Jun Ho…” The voice was low, almost a whisper.
Y/n froze, the blood draining from her face.
Standing before her was none other than the man who had disappeared, the man whose death Jun Ho had never fully accepted.
The Front Man.
Jun Ho’s older brother, In Ho.
Inside the apartment, Jun Ho was in the living room, playing with Joonie. His heart felt lighter than it had in a long time—life was good. His wife, his son, everything felt like it was falling into place, and yet, he couldn’t shake the nagging emptiness that lingered deep inside him. The loss of his brother had created a hole that nothing seemed to fill. Even after everything, even after all the time that had passed, part of him still felt like he was waiting for some sort of closure.
But he hadn’t expected closure to come knocking at his door.
The sound of footsteps approaching from the hallway caught his attention. Y/n’s voice, soft but with a tinge of something strange in it, echoed through the apartment. “Jun Ho…” she called, her tone faltering.
A sudden tension coiled in Jun Ho’s chest. He stood up, his instincts kicking in. He had no idea why, but something about the way she called his name made him uneasy.
Before he could make it to the door, it swung open, and there stood his brother—alive, standing right in front of him, looking exactly the same as he had when they last saw each other, all those years ago.
Jun Ho froze, his heart stopping in his chest. He blinked, feeling like the ground had slipped out from under him.
"In Ho…" he breathed, his voice barely above a whisper.
The room went silent for a long, agonizing moment. Jun Ho just stared at him, unable to process what he was seeing. His brother was alive. Alive. After everything—the Squid Game, the betrayal, the gunshots—it didn’t make sense. It couldn’t be real.
In Ho looked at him, his expression unreadable, a faint trace of sadness in his eyes. His lips curved into a small, tired smile, as though the weight of the past still hung heavy on him.
“I’m sorry, Jun Ho,” In Ho finally spoke, his voice surprisingly soft. “I couldn’t let you know I was alive. It… it wasn’t safe for either of us.”
Jun Ho’s breath caught in his throat. "But… but I thought you were dead. I watched you fall… I—" He broke off, his mind racing to catch up with the impossible reality in front of him.
In Ho stepped forward slowly, his eyes never leaving his younger brother’s face. "I know. I wanted to end it, Jun Ho. I wanted to disappear, to make sure the Game died with me. But I couldn't—couldn't leave you with that… that nightmare hanging over you. I had to make sure you were safe. So I let you think I was gone."
Jun Ho swallowed hard, emotions flooding him all at once—relief, anger, confusion. He wanted to reach out, to pull his brother into a hug, to shout at him for leaving him alone in that chaos. But his body froze, unsure of what to do.
Finally, it was Y/n who stepped forward, her voice breaking through the haze. “You…” Her hand trembled as she reached out, staring at him. “You’re really here. You’re really alive.”
In Ho’s gaze softened, a flicker of regret crossing his face. "I should have contacted you. I should have told you. But after everything—everything we went through, I thought it was better this way."
Joonie, who had been quietly observing from the corner, suddenly toddled over to In Ho, his small hands reaching up. He looked up at the unfamiliar face with wide, curious eyes. “Papa?” Joonie asked, his voice innocent and confused.
In Ho looked down at the child, his heart tightening. "No, little one. I'm not your papa," he said, bending down to meet Joonie’s gaze. "But I’m your uncle."
The simple words hung in the air, and a quiet, painful understanding passed between the brothers. In Ho had been gone, had been trapped in his own self-imposed exile, and now he was finally back, but the world had changed. Jun Ho was a father now. There was so much time lost, so much to catch up on.
Jun Ho watched In Ho interact with Joonie, his heart conflicting with the warmth and distance that had developed between them over the years. This was his brother, the same man who had once guided him, who had once shared his dreams—who had once taken a very different path.
“I don’t know what to say,” Jun Ho finally whispered, his voice breaking. “I thought I had lost you.”
In Ho looked at him with a somber expression. “I know. I was a coward. I didn’t want to drag you back into that world. I didn’t want to hurt you. I made choices that… I can’t undo. But I’m here now. If you’ll have me back, I’ll do whatever it takes to make things right.”
For a long moment, Jun Ho didn’t speak. His brother had hurt him, had caused him so much pain, and yet… here he was, standing in front of him—alive. And even after everything, even after all the years of uncertainty, a part of Jun Ho’s heart still longed for the connection they had once shared.
Slowly, Jun Ho stepped forward, his breath shaky. "You have no idea how much I've missed you, In Ho," he said, his voice filled with a raw emotion. "I didn't know how to live with the thought that you were gone. But now—now, we can figure this out. Together."
And in that moment, the weight of the past seemed to lift just a little bit. There were still many things to face, many wounds to heal, but for the first time in years, Jun Ho felt like maybe—just maybe—his family could come together again.
Joonie, oblivious to the tension and history that had been tangled between his father and uncle, reached up again, this time pulling at In Ho’s sleeve. “Uncle play?” he asked, his big eyes hopeful.
In Ho’s heart swelled, and he chuckled softly. “Yeah, little one. Let’s play.”
Jun Ho, Y/n, and In Ho—three people who had been separated by the past, but now, perhaps, could begin to heal and rebuild. It was a messy, complicated reunion, but it was theirs. And that, in itself, was enough.

for those of you out there who are, like me, obsessed with the mpreg fish book
li yu, instead of transmigrating into the novel he read, transmigrates to the trashy stallion novel he'd only heard about and didnt want to read bc he's a proud fudanshi dammit and all that straight porn sounded really boring
but now he's in the body of a baby fish demon who cannot yet transform and gifted roughly from the hands of the TERRIFYING mobei jun into the ALSO PRETTY SCARY immortal cultivator shang qinghua, who seems confused that this demon is giving him anything at all
still, the ice demon was COLD AS ASS AND HE NEARLY DIED so he'll stick with the cultivator THANKYOU
his system is malfunctioning a lot tho. it seems to think he's in a different novel and it also seems to fighting with a DIFFERENT system and basically dealing with the system is a headache inducing non-starter so instead he focuses on his life being a peak lords pet fish
except this peak lord is clearly working with a demon and li yu has read enough cultivation novels to know thats not good news. so this guy is prolly a villain? right?? he seems relatively harmless. kind of a hamster-like man who is clearly very overworked and mutters to himself a lot, but not a terrible fish owner so li yu is inclined to like him well enough
anyway, theres also something just.... suspicious about this guy aside from all that. like he could SWEAR that sometimes the guy mutters some modern slang. but also, this novel was pretty well known for running fast and loose with the cultivation setting, maybe it had a lot of anachronistic phrases?
moreso than figuring out whats up with that, li yu is pretty invested in the "will they, won't they" drama happening right in front of his eyes.
because oki the demon lord (finding out the demon was a DEMON LORD was like a scare that took a few years off of li yu's life, THANKS) comes to visit a LOT and hangs out on shang qinghua's bed and shang qinghua seems equally horrified and horny and li yu is left wondering if this is what he's been designated as a fish for. he spent his life observing other peoples romances as a fudanshi, and now his fishy life is much of the same?
which tbh isnt terrible except li yu only has patience for slow burn WHEN ITS FICTIONAL AND THERE ARE TIME SKIPS. while his system is up to fuck who knows and he might spend the rest of his days (or until he's old enough to transform into a fish demon, CROSSING HIS FINGERS THAT HE'S A MERMAID LOOKING DUDE, HE WILL CRY IF ITS THE OPPOSITE) as a lil fishy pet, li yu decides to begin OPERATION: MATCHMAKING FISH PET
bc at this point he ships it and look, he is NOT going to wait however many DECADES this romance might take without his interference (it is indeed pre-canon moshang lolol)

Would you write Hwang Jun ho (from squid game)fic with smut
Also you're one of my most favourite writers
I absolutely love your work ❤️💕❤️
Of course my love! Hope you like it!
Tumblr media
"Please don`t stop, I missed you so much" you moaned weakly, hanging onto Hwang for dear life, your sweaty body being thrusted deeper into the mattress with every harsh movement of his.
Your toes curled as the knot started forming deep into the pit of your stomach, a delicious knot you hadn´t felt in a very long time. You had thought that your boyfriend had died as his employer had reached out to you to offer his condolences, hours later your boyfriend stood in your apartment with a bullet wound that already had started to heal and a wild look on his face.
He had fallen into your arms and whispered that he´d explain everything to you, why he had vanished for multiple days, but now he just needed you.
"Look at me" Hwang whispered, already staring down at your sweat drenched face while he snapped his hips faster against yours, the tip of his hard cock smoothly pounding against your sensitive spot. The sensation left you breathless as you slowly opened your eyes and let out a loud moan while trying to focus your gaze onto your boyfriend.
"Your my life, I am nothing without you, you hear me?", his words of affirmations were knew to you and made an intense shiver run down your spine as the knot had reached its limit, the tightness deep in your lower stomach becoming to much as your inner walls clenched up around his cock.
All you could do was nod your head while your vision became blurry, the pleasure coursing through your body, the room temperature rising all while you were being fucked so passionately.
Your nails dug into your boyfriend`s shoulders, your legs now trembling as it was finally time. The anger was still rushing through your body but the desperation to be filled up, feel your walls clench and pulsate around your lover´s cock was overwhelming.
"Come with me, I´m all yours" Hwang moaned before he let out a loud groan, followed by your name leaving his lips while he shuddered above you, your orgasm rippling through you so intensely that it left you speechless. You were a withering mess while loud gasps left your parted lips, your eyes clenching shut and your hips desperately riding out the incredible high, all while your boyfriend´s release filled you up, drop by drop.
He gave one final thrust before letting himself collapse on top of you, wrapping his strong arms around your thick waist and nuzzling his face in the crook of your neck, silently thanking heaven that he had made it back alive to you.

Wei Wuxian, worst supervillain by antebunny
Tumblr media
Wei Wuxian, worst supervillain
by antebunny (@antebunny)
G, 3k, Wangxian
Summary: Lan Wangji has never met a worse supervillain. He finds this rather remarkable considering that he has, during his tenure as Hanguang-jun, fought quite a large number of villains. Certainly some of them, like Wen Ruohan’s two successors, Wen Xu and Wen Chao, lacked style, as did Su She and Jin Zixun. But what they lacked in style, each and every one of them made up for in sheer villany. Even Wang Lingjiao didn’t hesitate to kick a puppy she saw on the street. The Yiling Patriarch, on the other hand. Well. Mojo's comments: Adorable. Excerpt: It’s on a stormy night that Lan Wangji finds the Yiling Patriarch leaning against the side of a building, deep in some alleyway, clutching his side with one hand. His breath comes out in erratic bursts, and his sopping wet hair runs down his face and his back like ink down a brush. His silver eyes are dull when he sees Lan Wangji land lightly on the paved ground, clear umbrella held above his head, moonlight filtering through the plastic. They barely register shock, or fear, or anything else. The Yiling Patriarch slowly pulls his hand away from his ribs, lets both of them hang by his side. Black liquid drips off his hands like ink onto paper. “Have you ever seen blood in the moonlight, Lan Wangji?” The Yiling Patriarch asks. “It appears…” He lifts his hands. Raindrops pelt his palms, rinsing away the dark liquid. “…Quite black.” Lan Wangji looks at him. The Yiling Patriarch tilts his head back, closes his eyes. He lets rain pelt his face as well, as if it could wash him away. “No one at the prison died,” he says. “There’s that, at least,” the Yiling Patriarch murmurs after a pause.
pov lan wangji, modern setting, secret identities, superheroes/superpowers, fluff, attempt at humor, light angst, tooth-rotting fluff, crack treated seriously, superhero lan wangji, supervillain wei wuxian

Your relationship with Junhui ended when he abandoned you.
Of course, you remember him. He is the first guy you’ve ever dated and all of a sudden in the height of your relationship he mysteriously moves away without a trace. You were left in the dust, wondering what it was for him to leave you alone without warning, much less a goodbye. Back then, neither of you had the privilege of owning a cell phone nor any other way to contact each, even so, how would you call god knows who where?
Despite the abrupt and unexplained departure, hope flickers within your tiny eleven-year-old heart; an inkling whispers that you might cross paths again. However, the reality your adult self faces is starkly different from the innocent optimism of your youth. Those hopes of reuniting in fruitful harmony died along with your dreams of living out dreams beyond reality. You know better than that now. However, meeting him again, unexpectedly, reopens old wounds for the same reasons that severed your connection years ago, yet at the same time also opens up new possibilities you have yet to discover about yourself.
“I know you have every right to hate me.”
“What’s there to hate you for? Something came up. That’s fine.”
You busy yourself with your work a day after Valentine's during the lunch hour, which you woefully choose to take. You say woefully once the doors are open and the singular customer you come across is the very man that left you hanging all of last night. His eyes round with guilt, he strides right towards you, and nothing but apologies spill from his lips.
You are usually a person to hold a grudge–with your background of servitude and duty, you have no luxury to–but Jun seems to bring out that side of you. That childish side that you’ve repressed for so long. The kind that hoped their parents would take them to the carnival and pay for overpriced popcorn and cotton candy.
"I understand you might harbor some…resentment towards me, and you have every right to feel that way."
You scoff under your breath. "What's there to hate me for? Things came up, and that's perfectly acceptable."
"It's not fine." Jun trails behind you as you briskly navigate the aisles, replenishing the missing items, all while avoiding his eyes. The fluorescent lights hum overhead, casting a sterile glow on the shelves, and his shadow shades over any shelf you stand in front of–constantly in your line of vision. "I should have given you an earlier heads-up. You waited for me."
You meticulously scan the shelves, your fingers deftly selecting items with practiced efficiency, nonchalantly proceeding with work. "And I went back home; it's okay. Have a good day, sir. Remember, only paying customers are allowed in the store."
Immediately, Jun hastily seizes several boxes of candy, the crinkling of plastic punctuating the sudden flurry of movement. His fingers fumble slightly as he attempts to maintain composure, but the visible tension in his posture betrays his true emotions. He carries the candy with him as he trails behind you, a silent acknowledgment of his disrupted intentions. "I'll be buying these, don't worry."
You expel a loud sigh, the weariness evident in your demeanor, before retreating to the counter. There, you rest your arms against it in annoyance, the cool surface providing a brief respite. "Junhui, you're not buying these."
“Yes, I am.”
A challenging exchange unfolds between you, and Jun leans in, determination flickering in his eyes. You cross your arms. "What will get you to leave?"
“I’ll leave…if you tell me you never ever want to see my face again. That you wish me the worst and you truly want me out of your life.”
You fixate your gaze on him, a long moment passing as you process the weight of his terms and conditions.
“I never ever want to see your face again. I wish you the worst, and I truly want you out of my life.”
A moment of silence hangs heavily, and Jun lets linger longer than it should. “...I’ll be honest, I didn't think you’d actually do it.”
You offer a nonchalant shrug, your face maintaining a stoic expression. "Well."
His smile fades, and he retrieves his wallet with a subtle sense of resignation. A handful of bills gracefully leave their sleeves, and he places them gently on the counter before you. "Then, I'll leave. The candy is for you.”
As he takes tentative steps toward the exit, the atmosphere thickens with unrelieved tension. He can't resist the urge to steal glances back at you every few seconds, revealing the inner turmoil that accompanies his departure. The weight of unspoken words and unresolved emotions hangs between you like a translucent veil, urging you to let him go, yet a lingering hesitation looms in the air.
“I can’t eat all this candy,” you mutter from behind the counter, your gaze meeting his with a blend of understanding and resolve. The subdued lighting from the overhead fluorescent lights casts a muted glow on the scene, intensifying the bittersweet nature of the moment. It's as if the very atmosphere is a canvas, painting the emotional undertones of a strained encounter.
He attempts to suppress a grin, the corners of his lips betraying a flicker of amusement. "Keep them, give them away. Whatever you want." You lightly flick at the edge of one of the candy boxes. The faint rustling of plastic emanates from the candy boxes, their contents cascading over each other in an unstable tower reaching the height of your chin, yet somehow its stands tall.
"You should take some, considering you bought it anyway."
He glances back at the candy, hesitating for a moment before responding. "Then I'll get it later." His hands hover over the door handle, caught in the indecision of departure before a ghost fo a smile appears on his lips. “When I come back.”
The ambient sounds of the store, the soft hum of the air conditioning, and the intermittent creaks of the floor fills the deafening silence. The door handle finally yields to his touch, and the door opens with a muted chime. He steps halfway through, still tethered to the threshold. The quiet rustling of the candy boxes accentuates the pause, and he turns back to you, a question lingering in his gaze.  The fluorescent lights overhead continue to cast their gentle glow, creating a subdued ambiance that amplifies unspoken tension that you tried damn hard deescalating.
A beat passes, and you nod towards the candy. "Okay. When you come back." The words hang in the air as a subtle invitation. With a final nod, he steps out, the door closing softly behind him, leaving you in the quiet aftermath with the candy boxes.
Uncertainty takes residence in your thoughts, including the consideration that perhaps you meant to reunite with Junhui. You still have shattered pieces of your youth, reminding you he has the power to hurt like he’s done before. Yet, a weariness settles in—a weariness with the familiar routine, the predictability that has defined your interactions. Throughout your life, your every move has been strategic, a means of survival for yourself and your family, driven by the imperative to secure their well-being. Maybe it's time to defy convention and take it back to your roots, do what present-day you wouldn’t dare do.
You meet as expected, coming out of your work in your casual attire usually hidden behind an obnoxiously loud candy sales apron, muted in colors that paired well with the night. Junhui stands before you, a bundle of roses–bigger than you’ve ever seen–is hold up with endless ribbon and his iron grip. “A cliche, but I figured you were overdue one. This obviously doesn’t make up for anything–”
“I appreciate it,” you interrupt. “It’s the kindest thing someone’s ever done for me to be honest.”
“Well, good,” he grins, “But I have much more planned.”
It’s funny. The last thing you expect on thursday–the day after valentines–is to be on an helicopter several thousand feet in the air overlooking the town and their handful of buildings in every corner. You look as if discovering color for the first time with the bright lights under your feet looking like stars, insignificant yet blinding where you sat. You glance over at Junhui in shock as he smiles at your amazement, finding you the most profound thing he’s seeing tonight.
Dinner is given, considering that was the original plan, but dinner in the nicest restaurant a town over with a private room to yourselves isn’t. Junhui, stylish in a simple navy button-up and lack of blazer left in the aircraft with no remorse, picks through with chopsticks his perfectly cooked wagyu steaming from the scorchingly deliciously broth that coats it before putting it in his mouth.
You follow after him, not forgetting to dip rich and decadent flavors the sauce he personally curated for you. Having only ever eaten to survive, you’ve never had hot pot before and Junhui looks as if he’s an expert.
“The way I will miss this every day the moment dinner is over,” you pick up sauce from the corner of your lip with your tongue, a film of umami dancing on your tastebuds.
“I still can’t believe you’ve never had hot pot before,” Junhui expresses in disbelief. “You have not lived until a molten piece of wagyu melts in your mouth.”
“Yeah,” you softly chuckle knowingly. “Out of my price range most days, if I’m being honest.”
“Right. Just kind of the life I always knew, I hope I get to share it with you more.”
Your eyebrow raises by a fraction. “More?”
An airy laugh escapes from Junhui's lungs as he picks up another piece of perfectly cooked Wagyu and places it on your plate. “More.”
You swallow a lump in your throat, following the delicious gift bestowed on your plate before facing him. You don’t know why your hands are clammy, you’re just having dinner in a restaurant you wouldn’t otherwise know about in another town dropped off in a fucking helicopter. “Jun. I didn’t come here to rekindle a relationship from when we were kids.”
His hands falter, dropping strength as he picks up his food. “I know…I was just. I was just happy to see you.”
“Really? Then why did we part like that?”
“Like what?”
“Without a goodbye.”
A look of resolve washes over his flawless complexion, “…I didn’t expect it either. My parents made it their life’s mission to give me the life that they thought I deserved and wanted. To them, that meant a life without, well, anything short of the best. Whatever made our family looked good.”
You fork through your food, a mixture of curiosity and frustration etched across your face. “You could’ve at least told me.”
“I didn’t know we were going until we flew off. I wish I had, I would’ve stopped that plane at all costs. Come back to this town for work, thinking everything’s changed. Then I saw you, I was ecstatic. Like, a piece of me still left behind in this town.”
You laugh in disbelief. “Jun, you’re joking. I’m not anybody.”
“You were the last real friend I had. The last authentic relationship I had with anyone my age. All business, no pleasure. When I left, I was trained day and night, molded into this perfect model exec. Perfect to continue my family’s business. Well, almost perfect.”
Your gaze lingers on him, unraveling the layers of his confession that starkly contrast with his captivating exterior. His chocolate hair is illuminated by the light of the dangling chandelier, his body is hugged by the luxurious cotton as if it were a second skin. Despite the opulent surroundings, the genuine humility he exudes speaks volumes about his character. He is perfect.
"Well, you seem to be pretty damn perfect from where I'm standing."
He shakes his head, putting another piece of meat on your plate, followed by a piece of shrimp. “That’s far from it. It’s funny you’ve gotten to see it all. Me messing up. I try not to let that happen to often.”
“So Valentine’s Day…it was all because of work?”
He nods, a subtle grimace betraying the weight of his responsibilities. “The one and only dreaded mistress.”
Junhui has worked all of his life until this moment, even in his desperate escape from reality. It’s a weight on his shoulders, constantly beckoning at him for his attention, and somehow having their vice grip on his collar. He knows it's unhealthy, but it’s all he’s ever known. All the socialite dinners, the charity events, the several hours long meetings on a daily basis. It’s the life he has always lived.
Then comes you, someone a sight for sore eyes. Age obviously has had its way with you but it did not rid you of your grace or gentle gaze. You had that look even young. Someone who only spoke of kindness and sincerity, even now with him, who stood you up hardly 24 hours ago. He could at least make up for it. He wasn’t sure if it was to you or himself.
The clinking of silverware against plates punctuates the conversation, the atmosphere heavy with the unspoken. The restaurant buzzes from the crack of the door, oblivious to the palpable remorse for a relationship–even friendship–that cease to exist in your private room.
“She isn’t good to you?”
“She’s…demanding. Do you remember when that kid Wonwoo stole your juice box without looking and every day after for the rest of the year?”
You scowl, recalling the glasses-dependent little boy. "What a brat. I couldn't stand him."
Jun laughs, sensing the lightheartedness in your tone. “Kind of like how he stole something you love, your favorite apple juice, that’s what work has done to me: stolen my happiness at the end of the day. It’s…exhausting.”
“I understand that. I’m in a similar situation. Working to live is what all we can do nowadays.”
Junhui holds up his drink for you to clink. “Fuck adulthood, am I right?”
You grin, lifting the glass. “Let’s not talk about work then. To live the night to the fullest.” Your cups clank and you drink your first of many glasses of wine of the night.
You end up relearning about Junhui, hearing about his likes, dislikes, dreams, and what he’d do if he wasn’t him. It’s strange. You don’t go on dates but here you are with Junhui, one of the most interesting men you’ve ever met and you’re enjoying yourself. You’re enjoying his presence.
Perhaps you’re enjoying it too much.
Your work clothes find themselves on the floor, your arms dangling from from his taut body to feel the tension of his muscles gather your flesh in his grasp.
How did you get in his apartment? You swear up and down that you had just been in the restaurant.
You gasp as his lips find your neck, cascading kisses over your skin and his hands find the fullness of your thighs. Your hands run through his hair with reckless abandon, tugging from the root and breathing against his ear. You feel a shudder run down his spine and he lifts you off the ground, wrapping your legs around his waist as you’re enveloped in soft giggles.
You utter his name in a heated whisper, feeling the friction of his bulge against the plush of your stomach. You grasp his face, looking into his eyes that were blown out from lust, and trace over his features wordlessly. A hint of a smile creeps against his mouth before reuniting with you in a liplock, softly giggling against your lips.
“You taste like wine,” he presses a tender kiss, “I like it.”
“You’re just a little drunk,” you sweetly respond, squealing as you meet with the cushion of his mattress adorned in the most lush sheets. His playful gaze peers over you in piqued interest, kneading into your flesh as he ravishes your body, eliciting moans that delight him to the point of hardening.
You feel it swelling under your palm and you find yourself smiling, drunk on not substance but fantasy, as in this moment, it feels like you are living in a dream. At this moment, you’re not working multiple part-time jobs to make ends meet and send money to your family. You’re living. There's no pressure, only bliss; and right now, bliss is being in Junhui’s touch.
His clumsy yet gentle hands strip you to your skin, slipping you out of your straps and embracing every inch of your body. You reciprocate, roaming his body in light strokes, taking him by his hips.
“Are you sure about this? Are you sure about me?” Junhui cautiously asks, fingers threading through your hair.
“I’ve never been more sure of anything,” you respond, voice laced with ease.
You extend your arms, beckoning him to come closer, but you sense the tension in his muscles. Worry graces his eyes as he hesitates, and he voices his uncertainty, saying, "I'm not sure if you are."
“Junhui…” your hands caress his arms, goosebumps pebbling his skin. “I want you so bad.”
“I want you too.” His legs anchor on either of your sides, towering over you. “I don’t think I wanted anything—anyone as badly as I want you.”
His words sober you up, oxygen stolen from your lungs. Your lips parted for nothing to come out, a wordless ponder in what he had meant. You slip off his grasp with his gentle release, his head bowing down in view. “But I shouldn’t do this. Not in your state.”
“But—“
“I shouldn’t have even gotten this far, but I’ll be holding myself back from now on.”
He picks himself up, and the draft immediately hits your flushed skin. He picks up your abandoned clothes and tucks them under his arm before making his way to a wardrobe. He pulls out a set of silk pajamas and sets them at the end of the bed. “I’ll wash your clothes and you can sleep in these. They might be a bit big, but they’ll be comfortable.”
You’re speechless as he walks away, disappearing behind the heavy door of the bedroom you’re left alone in. You weren’t sure how to feel. Unwanted. Betrayed. Disappointment. However, sleep offers no time for deliberation, and the amalgamation of fatigue and alcohol becomes a potent concoction for slumber. Lost in the enveloping darkness, your body succumbs to the overdue rest. Resolving to deal with it in the morning, you surrender to the oblivion of sleep.
It’s a morning unlike any other, starting with the fact you decide not to be at work today like you should’ve been, but you’d soon regret that later. That thought is interrupted by Junhui bringing you breakfast, setting it on the bedside table to take the space by you. “Did you sleep well?”
You slowly nod, emerging from the sheets you’ve found temporary comfort in.
“I left you some hangover medicine, just in case.”
“Thanks, Jun.”
“And I’m sorry for leaving you here by yourself. I wasn’t sure if I could handle being alone with you in a room.” He shifts in bed, weight dropping deeper into the mattress. “I’m glad I stopped things before we–I did something I’d regret.”
“...I wouldn’t have regretted it.” The bed sheets fall past your thighs to reveal your bare legs, cool air brushing against your warm flesh. You notice how his eyes lower to your exposed skin, his hand visibly tingling with urge.
Words hitch in Junhui’s throat before he clears it, speaking as he averts his gaze. “Still. That would’ve been a very, very bad idea.”
"That's very considerate of you," you say, inching closer to him. “Wish you were considerate enough to wake me up early enough to go to work, though.”
Guilt sweeps across his features, he releases a soft chuckle of disbelief. “I skipped out on work too. Guess we’ll both be in some load of trouble.”
“Best we make it worth it, right?”
Food would not saite the hunger in your body. It craves much more than it can offer. Junhui only knows half an idea of what that is.
You quickly pick up where things were left off from last night, finding yourself topping over him with purpose, meeting his lips in a feverish frenzy, and finding that sense of abandonment. Junhui, lost beyond comprehension in your heat, takes only a split second to compose himself and undo his clothes as you undo yours. Warm familiarity swells his chest touching your skin as his fingers dig in your hips. He sighs against your lips and all he can think about is making up for lost time.
“Gosh, you’re so big, Jun.” Your hand runs along his shaft, gliding it against the slit of your heat. Jun inhales, latching around your vicarious wrist, catching the subtle darkness in your eyes that halts the saliva running down his throat. “C-condom?”
“I’m safe. Don't worry,” you let out, a sultry laugh to follow.
“I figured, but the other thing?”
“I’m protected from that too,” you whisper, grinning. “Anything is on the table.”
His face reminds you of strawberries and cream, sweet and red. He lowers his gaze timidly, unable to suppress his smile, almost too precious not to bite into. Almost.
You press his cock between your folds, letting your heat melt around him and you mewl over his size. He softly moans caressing your shape and letting you have control as your teeth nip at his shoulder. The cushion of your thighs crushes around his body in an iron grip, working him between your walls.
You lift your upper body for display, kneading your breasts that’s used to the constant confinement of a 12-hour work day before guiding Junhui to join you. Eagerly, he follows, feeling your flesh spill through his hands, your nipples growing stiff as he twists them between the pads of his fingers. Stars in his eyes, he instinctively thrusts up you, and stuffs his cock deeper back in you, watching the plushness of your body land safely back into him.
You stumble to maintain your form, utterances of religion on your tongue. You lick your lips and latch to every inch of his throbbing hunger. His name comes out in choked breaths, complimenting him without the prestige vocabulary, and you grind into him until he disappears inside you. Your eyes flutter in contentment, the kindling fire in your abdomen burning a bright glow.
“Shit…”
Junhui a hand claims the back of your neck, pushing your head down until he meets your lips once again. It’s so gentle yet lustful, almost like love, but you know to suspect otherwise.
In an instant, he flips you on the bed, landing you on your side. Your body, experiencing too much ecstasy to protest, allows Junhui to take reign and is pleasantly surprised with his choices.
“I swear I have more self-control,” He defends before his hand gingerly makes its way between your legs, and the pads of his fingers find your clit in a sensual caress. “Just…just not today.”
Your arousal creates a film of sex on his fingers, building pleasure as his cock regains his paces, fucking into your steady, controlled rhythm. It’s delicious, tantalizing, and makes your back arch at every thrust, but you know he’s holding himself back. You know there’s more in him.
“More, Jun…”
“Too…soon…”
He bites his grunts into your side, sandwiching you between him and the mattress, and he ruts into you only a fraction harder. His patience has you desiring for more, compelled to lure him into a drastic reveal of his inner demons. Your head turns to him, eyes oozing in need and conviction, and you softly jut out your lip to plead. “Please, Jun…”
“I’ll cum…too soon…” he whines.
You force your hand, then your hips, slamming back against him, needy and desperate. It's filthy with the look in your eyes, the bounce against his lap, the blood rushing over Jun’s whole body down to his disciplined cock. His length runs along the slick of the walls, the walls that feel only narrower as he grows bigger. He swears under his breath he can’t take it, fucking you loud and clear until the clash of your skin was comparable to the sound of drums.
Before Junhui is determined to savor every thrust, now he only wishes to seek a newer form of enlightenment in every inch of your body. Your hands ball into the sheets, gaining a foundation, and your eyes start to roll back into your skull, now you savoring every hasten jerk of his hips. No longer delicate and kind, but relieving yet electrifying.
You embrace every corner of him until your climax explodes like a bomb, traveling to all parts of your body and you can no longer recall where you are. Your legs spasm, toes curling, hips writing, and it doesn’t stop. Not for a while.
Junhui hardly notices as he’s lost in his own pleasure, your swollen clit between his fingertips. Your voice muffles as it falls against the sheets, although he expects them to be incoherent as he is now with only sex on his mind.
Eventually, his gut tightens, a surefire sign that it would soon enough come. His arms crush around your body as he lifts you against him. He pounds deep and hard into you, your pleasured sounds of ache growing smaller as his thrust does, and he floods every ounce inside you. He hears your shattered breath against his ears, unearthing his own before his body limps and falls over on the bed.
Both of you needed escape for your own reasons, reasons being much similar than you realize. Now all that left is breakfast, and the ponderance of what’s to become of this after. One suspects more to come, seeing this as only the beginning of something different, maybe even good. The other is ready to face reality, go back to daily routine, and do what’s needed to be done.
Unsurprisingly, you are the latter.

You had died in a fight
{CC} was heart broken
They all were
Raph and Casey would train themselves into the ground
Trying to fight their emotions out
Mikey would pain something in your honor
Donnie would lock himself in his lab
And Leo... He'd curl up and watch his favorite movies
Then one day {CC} heard the security alarm
He checked the cameras and saw... You?
He does a double take
Yep, you're standing at the door of the lair, looking more alive than he last saw you
Of course that wasn't very hard
He drug you to the med bay to be checked out
You weren't even injured anymore
You were deemed perfectly healthy
And that's when the questions started
Raph wouldn't even get through the first question before you're wrapped tight in a hug
Mikey would cry through the questions before tackling you
Casey stayed fairly calm, I mean he's already somewhat been through it before
Leo wouldn't be able to talk, just stare at you in awe
And of course, Donnie, a man of science, had to ask you every question under the sun

TCGF/NPAB AU where Pei Ming actually dies in his final fight as a mortal. Not against Rong Guang, but against Jun Wu, just after his ascension. In my personal headcanon, a god is a bit weaker and not fully immortal after they've just ascended, considering that this is a completely new form and they're caught off guard, so Jun Wu - trying to eliminate a threat before it becomes an issue - gets him while he's down. So, Pei Ming dies.
Of course, he comes back. Dead and kicking, like a vicious little ghost. Instead of Hua Cheng being the next Ghost King after the White Clothed Calamity, Pei Ming takes on that role (haven't decided a fancy title yet). Zhao Beitong may see a son in him, but she sees a warrior. He is the first ghost who refuses to forget her. He stares her dead in the eyes and downright refuses to be consumed so that he cannot forget her. Even if he forgets her name, he will not forget her. She is such a brave warrior, the only martial god he would ever respect. He is a general, and he kneels to her.
He's not really all about that Revenge Lifestyle™ and ends up hanging around Gusu, the site of his ascension, listening to the tales spun of the General who never wanted to be a God, the one who spurned his Godhood and now wanders, looking for someone worthy enough to fight him.
After Mount Tonglu, he just kinda hangs around, reconnecting with Yushi Huang earlier on because, welp, he's dead, the worst she can do is kill him again. He has no idea what the hell happened to his ashes (Jun Wu thought he scattered to them, but a certain Heavenly Official watched this mess occur and caused a massive distraction that allowed her to replace the body with a duplicate) and frankly, he doesn't really care. He's just waiting for something interesting to happen (preferably for the Heavens to crash to the ground, but he's not picky).
Because he ascended before death, he can still receive prayers after death. People speak of the General who spurned godhood, but one who still helps out those who beg for it, becoming a terror to those within his own realm. Ghosts fear him just as much as the gods who hunt them, and he is perfectly content with that. He never touches a sword after his death. He lives peacefully, learning to fight with other weapons, making his own armour and practicing just...living. Ironic that he had to die to learn how to do such a thing. He doesn't get involved with anything.
He listens to the rumours of the God-Pleasing Crown Prince from Xianle, sympathy seeping through him as everyone talks of the awe-inspiring legend, being one of the only people to see it as it really is: a soon to be tragedy. That doesn't stop the sympathy from crawling through him at the tales of how Xianle has been hit with a terrible plague along with a war, how the Crown Prince descends from the heavens to help his country, and the eventual demise of his kingdom. The tales of the White Clothed Calamity. The Crown Prince being banished from the heavens without his sight.
It all makes him feel sympathy for the Crown Prince, especially when less-savoury rumours begin to emerge. He doesn't think about them much. He stops paying attention to any sorts of rumours or stories after that.
Until Mount Tonglu. He, of course, has to go to it, because of the literal everything that goes on. When he watches Zhao Beitong coach a red-clad ghost, watching at a distance and not getting involved until she notices him. They share a look, and he just nods, beginning his journey into the kiln - one that he took before, but accidentally. He does allow himself to farm a few of the wandering souls, because he's allowed a treat sometimes, but he just sits by the doors, waiting for them to open.
He waits for a while. He speaks to Zhao Beitong occasionally. She seems pleased that he has reconnected with Yushi Huang. Apart from that, he doesn't really do much, just kills particularly irritating ghosts. When the kiln opens, he darts inside, not going out of his way to fight the ghost, mainly just watching. Even when the young man notices him, he just watches. Until they fall into memories.
There's no real surprise that the ghost manages to consume Zhao Beitong, but not before she makes him promise to make Pei Ming teach him anything she can't (surprisingly, there are things). When they exit the kiln, Pei Ming is surprised to find a group of child spirits waiting for the red-clad ghost to return. When they notice Pei Ming, he doesn't make any attempt to appear scary - he is quite intimidating as it is. The red ghost looking for his god turns and asks for him to teach him everything.
Pei Ming disagrees.
So, of course, he is absolutely fucking pestered by the ghost (who, despite being strong, cannot really fight against someone at least two hundred years older than him), until he is actually charmed into agreeing - by the child spirit with multicoloured eyes, not by the ghost.
(This was not supposed to be this adapted, just wait 'till He Xuan comes along)

裴公罪 The Sins of Lord Pei
Chapter 2. First Sin – Hanging on to Life
Pei Jun is dead.
Before he died, he only saw the bright red command token carrying the execution order yanked down and thrown before his knees. The last sound he heard by his ears were that of the blade slicing into meat.
The next moment, extreme pain cut into the back of his neck, as if the blade was burying into the marrow of his bones. His head had rolled onto the ground, but seemed still to hold one last gasp of breath that would dissipate in the blink of an eye. This allowed him to look back at his broken headless body on the ground overflowing with blood.
This breath felt so long, as if it lasted ten thousand years.
His body was wrecked and battered, and covered by putrid sores and filth. Now that it had lost the wealth it accrued and the life it was barely clinging onto, like a tattered sack that leaked air, it fell to the ground without further ado after the last drop of blood had gushed out of its neck, and sunk into everlasting oblivion.
So this was his allotted time on earth.
Under the bright sun, right before the execution at the Meridian Gate (1), Pei Jun glimpsed back one last time. It was as if he saw himself at twenty-seven when he accepted the mission during a time of crisis, and led a thousand troops to the battlefield to negotiate a peace treaty. Back then, in high spirit and with great ambition, he rode out of the capital brandishing his whip and laughing with his servant, and was about to enter the ten most splendid years of his life –
He was still a hero then; a bright future was waiting for him.
Even now he could still recall that before he departed for the mission, how the person under him gasped and moaned with moist and reddened eyes, his slender fingers grasping Pei Jun’s sweaty hair tips, and how he looked at him and whispered timidly:
“Pei Jun, if you’re determined to go, we command you to return speedily.”
“We...we’ll wait for you.”
...
...Wait for whom?
Not knowing if it was real or an illusion, Pei Jun felt his soul float up and settle on the scaffold. He saw his bloodied head roll down the scaffold and kicked back by onlookers around the street corner as they laughed and hurled insults. He heard them hoot with laughter – they were laughing at him, Pei Jun, the wicked minister who used to parade pompously through the streets and command the entire country, but who ended up with a broken corpse and severed head being kicked around like a ball.
At this moment, it seemed like he was waiting for a messenger from hell to come and take him away, or it might be that this cold and merciless space had deprived him of all senses and trapped his solitary soul there, so he could no longer scream and fight against this clamorous world. Even the wavering ghostly shadows around him could not touch him, as if his thin wisp of spirit is the only one left on the whole wide earth. He came into the world alone, and when he left, no one could be by his side.
How many years had he went about alone like this?
Out of loyalty to that young man on the golden throne, he played the villain his entire life. Alone he stumbled forward bearing the infamy; the entire court feared him, the common people were enraged by him, even at the marketplaces, small kids called him names in nursery rhymes. But in the end, he was only a piece in the emperor Jiang Zhan’s chess game, who indulged him only to denounce him later for his mistakes!
Hate?
In the end how should he hate?
Sixteen years...for sixteen long years – it was true that he allowed passion to cloud his judgement and his feelings to get the better of him. He looked laughably foolish even to himself. Ultimately, all his sins and greed arose from his lust, and came to an end because of his lust.
Just let it all stop.
Pei Jun sighed and lay back on the scaffold languidly. He looked up at the yellowish sun in the clear sky, and felt that it was like a flickering flame in his soul. He had only needed to close his eyes, and oblivion would pour down like cold water to quench the flame, and he would never wake up again...
But just then, loud cries erupted from the crowd, making the scene even more raucous than it was before when they cheered on the execution.
In a haze, Pei Jun heard the deafening sound of hooves thundering its way here from a far distance, as if a great army had breached the gates of the capital and was pressing down on the imperial city. Even the stage underneath him tremored. In the nearby crowd, the bold ones craned their necks to see what was happening, and those who feared for their lives fled in panic. All were making an awful din:
“Whose army is that?”
“Is someone starting a revolt?!”
“Quick! Look over there!”
...
Pei Jun opened his eyes to see who it was among all this commotion that wouldn’t even let him die in peace.
But as soon as he opened his eyes, he was stunned.
He saw that the crowd of spectators were split into two sides by hundreds of riders, while a fierce red maned horse hurtled towards them like a thunderbolt. The man on horseback was surrounded by soldiers, his tall slender figure leapt down hastily in one flowing motion. His face that normally looked cold and indifferent now had a deep frown, and even a trace of unsettled fear.
Pei Jun propped up his head quietly, and when he got a good look at the man, he couldn’t help but laugh with a feeling of absurdity: “Huh, Prince Jin has returned to the capital.”
It made sense, who other than Prince Jin, his arch-enemy, would disturb him even in death?
Pei Jun thought that after being at loggerheads for half their lives, Prince Jin, the head of his traitorous mob, must be so thrilled when he heard that Pei was sent to prison by Jiang Zhan, that he couldn’t even wait for his death before he rushed back from Yanbei Pass to start a revolt.
My my, that was not a good look.
Prince Jin’s eyes fell on the head stained with blood and dust beside Pei Jun’s hanging feet. Instantly, his face lost all colour and turned greyish and pale, like he was struck by thunder. He stumbled back half a step, his body tilted and almost fell, but was helped up by guards who hurried over.
“Pfft, what’s he being so scared for?” Pei Jun snickered, thinking to himself that although Prince Jin had gone to war several times, he was somehow afraid of a mere severed head. He took Prince Jin for a tough guy, who’d have thought he was such a scaredy-cat! If it were Prince Jin on a normal day, he should’ve twitched his lips and said: “you must have a death wish to fight with me,” then snorted and sneered.
Seeing how he was now, it made one wonder if he got the wrong script.
Anyhow, to live this life is to act in a play, and you won’t know if you were the main role until the curtain falls. Pei Jun had thought that he’d have a good death, what he didn’t know wsa that after all the lengths he went to to act his part, this play had nothing to do with him at all.
Upon such thoughts, he almost felt amused by himself. he raised his eyebrows, and with lowered eyes observed the head by the feet. He thought that although the face was stained with dirt and blood, it still looked most handsome. Also, before his death he had become numb and indifferent to anything that might happen, so the expression on that face wasn’t that tortured. Tsk, if one were to wipe away the dust and straighten it up, such a face would deserve to be paraded along a street lined with beautiful women, who’d shower it with gifts and beg for his hand in marriage (2) –
– If they didn’t know that he was Pei Jun.
Just when Pei Jun was feeling all relaxed and lost in a reverie, Prince Jin appeared to have gathered all his men. The guard who supported him asked tentatively: “my lord, what’s the order?”
In the wailing wind, Prince Jin stared at the side of Pei Jun’s feet and looked deathly pale. His stiff face showed no sign of gloating at his enemy’s demise, but rather seemed genuinely frightened. After a long while, he said with quivering lips: “Pass my order...”
He forced himself to stand up straight, his figure was like a reed withstanding the gale. His eyes were bloodshot, his face tense and livid: “Generals! Surround the imperial city immediately and capture the emperor for me, whether dead or alive!”
His last words were cadenced and clear, as if he gave the order through gritted teeth. As soon as he finished speaking, there was an uproar all around of people cheering and answering his orders. The next instant, iron-armoured soldiers were clattering past and marching on the imperial city. People dashed around in panic, shouting as they fled. So ended an era of peace that was suddenly crushed by warring footsteps...
Tumult mixed with the cries of battle pierced the heavens.
As Pei Jun watched and listened, he felt that the sun above seemed to be gradually growing dim, and his eyelids became heavier.
Maybe this was the moment when everything should end. Like a storybook that took a lifetime to read, although its plots really weren’t great, he finally reached the ending –
The sinful traitor was beheaded at the crowded market; the rebel saw his chance and overran the imperial city.
There was no need to see any more of it. No matter what would happen in the future, he could guess almost all of it.
From the day Jiang Zhan ascended the throne to the present, his mind had been growing crueller and more ruthless day by day. However, he wasn’t yet astute enough, and bringing down Pei Jun now without establishing a new power in his place resulted in the court falling completely into the hands of Cai Yan’s faction. Since the cabinet had lost Pei Jun’s presence to counter Cai, its policies were single-handedly determined by Cai’s faction, which the honest and respectable officials at court could never accept. This led to low morale and failed performances, and the entire court was in utter disarray.
Prince Jin, however, had been hiding his ambition and biding his time for ten years, quietly holding real power. Although his grand plan of rebelling against the crown was always being obstructed by various forces, preparations had long been made to ensure its eventual success... Besides, as resourceful and daring as Prince Jin was, once he had started the revolt, he must’ve been certain of its undoubted success.
At court, there had long been calls for Prince Jin to replace his nephew as the emperor. Now the time was just right for him, and he was destined to become the next emperor.
Emperor...
Pei Jun closed his eyes and laughed bitterly. In the blink of an eye, the flame of his soul was already burning towards the end of a lifetime of sound and fury. The power he had, the country he served, the person he adored, the love and hate of his whole life – all of it passed in flickering succession, and would soon be snuffed out in an instant.
Before his consciousness dissipated, he only sensed the pungent smell of blood, not knowing if it was his or if it came from the imperial city. By his ears, someone seemed to be sighing or weeping, as if calling his name in a deep voice, or earnestly asking him over and over if it was ever possible for him to start all over again.
The next moment, an icy cold took over. It could be a split second or an eternity, in which light changed into shade, sun into moon, and the shadows of the living and the dead were fluttering. His soul was pulled into the boundless river where it swayed and rocked, and he vaguely heard legions of ghosts laughing, whispering, chiding him for his stupidity; he heard also countless heartbreaking sighs of regret.
He didn’t know how many years or lifetimes had passed or returned. And then in a flash, a shaft of heavenly light lifted his oblivion from the endless river. He felt that what was turbid in him was washed away, and what was murky was dispersed. A soul-splintering pain pierced into the deepest recess of his brain –
Pei Jun breathed in, and suddenly opened his eyes.
There was the smell of incense. His pain disappeared without a trace, as if all the suffering once etched into his soul had never existed.
He was somehow awake.
All around him was calm and serene, and he couldn’t hear a sound. The sunshine alighting on his body was too dazzling, making him instinctively half close his eyes. After a moment of dizziness, he slowly opened his eyes again, and saw hanging above him the arched celling of a bed with golden canopy. In the middle of the ceiling, a relief of a golden dragon with eyes of inlaid jewels was reaching down from carved clouds. Its commanding obsidian eyes gazed at him intently, making him realise that he was lying completely naked on the lavish and spacious royal bed.
- the royal bed?!
Startled, Pei Jun sat up, but woke the person lying next to him. A lilting voice floated in his ears:
“You’re awake?”
The voice was nasal and drowsy, of someone who just woke up from a dream. It sounded graceful and relaxed, soft and sweet, like a cat’s tail curling around a man’s fingers.
If Pei Jun were to hear this voice in the past, his very bones would be filled with lust, and he’d press himself against the person making the noise and tangle with him until they’d used up their strength. But now, this voice stiffened him like a demonic power. Pei Jun turned his head and saw the person lying beside him, and his hoarse voice burst out:
“...Jiang Zhan?!”
“We’re here.”
Contrary to Pei Jun’s astonishment, Jiang Zhan’s response was mild and docile and thoroughly at ease, as if the royal we had nothing to do with the emperor, but was a pet name used between lovers.
He leaned over Pei Jun’s right shoulder, his exposed back had the pale and fine smoothness of youth. His black tresses strewn across the thin quilt between them, while his face was younger and gentler than Pei Jun remembered. His delicate and shapely eyes were tender and loving, and glanced at Pei Jun languidly in the sunlight falling around the golden bedstead. The corners of his eyes were tipped with a sensuous red, and his lips curled into a bright smile.
The next second, Pei Jun sensed soft hands twisting around his lower body – Jiang Zhan was stroking the thing between his legs with warm fingers.
“What are you –”
Startled, Pei Jun instinctively caught the fingers, but not before Jiang Zhan’s other hand had wound around his neck. Jiang Zhan leaned close to his face placatingly and licked his ear like a cat, and pleaded: “Pei Jun, we want more...”
Notes:
(1) The Meridian Gate is the largest gate of the Forbidden City in Beijing. It’s a popular myth that prisoners were executed at the Meridian Gate in ancient China, but it wasn’t the actual case in history.
(2) This sentence literally means “such a face would deserve to be paraded on a goat-drawn carriage along a street lined with beautiful women, who’d throw fruit into the carriage and beg for his hand in marriage.” There’re two historical allusions here: the goat-drawn carriage refers to a Han emperor who kept thousands of concubines and travelled around in a goat-drawn cart to visit them; the fruit thrown into the carriage refers to Pan An from the Jin Dynasty, who was said to be so handsome that women chased him around like he was a pop star and threw fruit into his carriage to express their admiration.

A little rant about MBC My Dearest, purity and men who weaponise it:
(Trigger warning: sexual assault, rape as a war crime)
Fusion sageuk or not, this world has some set rules around purity, even in the relatively loosey-goosey Neuggeunri, where women and men can and do commingle, chat and meet in groups. The last barbarian invasion hangs over them; the old ladies in Gil-chae’s hometown tell the girls that death is better than allowing the barbarians to touch you and that if they do, you should kill yourself for the sake of said purity. Death is preferable to lost purity in this time/place; that’s firmly established from the beginning of the show. (It’s reinforced midway when Injo’s court reports of women who jumped off cliffs into the sea at Ganghwa rather than be taken by barbarians, no doubt perceived not as an avoidance of pain and torture, but a praiseworthy act designed to retain and restore purity).
Gil-chae and Eun-ae have to grapple with this when Eun-ae is attacked by a barbarian. Eun-ae was violated and felt violated by what happened. They know what they are supposed to do, what the old ladies told them to do; and yet Gil-chae holds Eun-ae close and says, nothing happened. We were hurt and our clothes were torn because we rolled down a mountain. Nothing happened to us. She rewrote that story, in the face of everything that said Eun-ae didn’t deserve to live anymore. Consummate survival requires rewriting stories, even the ones that are the hardest to paper over.
Because it appears again in Hanyang, in relative peacetime, when Eun-ae feels she cannot accept Yeon-jun’s proposal, because even if Gil-chae rewrote that story, it’s harder to reconfigure shame when it’s under the skin, when it’s attached to the thing that makes you valuable as a woman. Yeon-jun may never know what it took for his future wife to survive, and that ignorance too, is a privilege. But Eun-ae knows, and perceives her value differently now than before. It’s Gil-chae who persuades her again, who reminds her that they rewrote this story together, two women who survived against all odds.
In this postwar, still somewhat vulnerable time, the possibility is high that there are assault survivors around, just as there are women who may have had to sell their bodies to feed their families, or broken any number of rules around purity for survival. It’s foreseeable that women survivors have been through or seen unimaginable things happen to other women, to their friends and have experienced it themselves. I’m not saying this to undersell the general trauma of war on men - just to say that war crimes hurt women in a very different, very intensely long-lasting way* as compared to theatres of war and fighting.
All of this to say: it didn’t take Jang Hyeon very long to go from “you’re not as pure as you think you are for loving a taken man” a few episodes ago to “you couldn’t live without a man for a day? If you were going to give it away you might as well come to me at least once.” I am truly horrified that he pretty much gets away with it; Gil-chae moves with the punch and gets in a hit of her own, but that’s a bone-chilling thing to tell a woman, any woman. It would be a terrible thing to say to a woman now, let alone in a time when that mattered so much to women, let alone in a time and place where it was forcibly taken from so many women, many of whom died so it wouldn’t be.
This callous attitude continues later when she’s run away with him and they’re in a room for the night. She tentatively asks about marriage, saying that it would be hard for her, since she’s almost a married woman, and people would consider her “used”. (Her fiancé later tells Yeon-jun that he is permitted to kill his partner and the adulterous lover, so this isn’t a gossip without consequence.) In essence, Gil-chae put her life on the line for a man who still says “Husband, no. I am your servant and my body is yours”, a promise that carries little substantive meaning in their world. Marriage isn’t a luxury good that she’s asking for as a whim. It’s what protects Gil-chae and her family from harm; it’s what will allow her sister to find a suitable match later on.)
Jang Hyeon is shown from the start as a man of his own ideas, someone who who doesn’t truck with traditional Joseon morality. He can and does reinvent rules for himself, and clearly doesn’t think that much of notions of purity, but he’s fine using them against Gil-chae.
Yes, Jang Hyeon saved her life during the war, but Jang Hyeon also had the choice of participating or not, the luxury of stepping back if he so chose. Gil-chae had no such luxury, no such choice, an open target on the run. He no doubt understands that the barbarians are raping women, that to survive as a woman is fraught, that sex has become fraught. To use purity to attack a woman he claims to love, to reduce her momentarily the way those old women did - to express his anger by lashing out in this way, in a way calculated to hurt, to violently pierce at the foundation of what it means to be a woman in this time and place is a cruelty that is hard to countenance. It’s telling that his anger at her leads him there, that it escalated with all that time, because he knows that’s what hurts. He knows it’s valuable, knows it hurts when he strikes at it, and yet will do little to protect it for her. I don’t know if there’s any amount of growth that will change this, whether it’s something he can change at all.
There are many upsetting things about this episode, but Gil-chae’s choice to stay at the end is the least upsetting part of it, and the most conceivable, intelligent choice she could have made in the face of a man who - in her perspective - can only offer her fervent words and a feverish gaze, things that will not feed her family or protect her reputation, her business or her heart.

Because I'm bored, and what do we do when we get bored? We MAKE LISTS! I went through every character dead character in the canon game universe (so AA1-6, AAI1-2, and TGAA1-2, sorry PWvsPL) and jotted it all down below, so let's see what the most common (specified) cause of death in Ace Attorney is:

Full list with character names all color-coded by game and more specific data below! (Beware of SPOILERS for the whole series!)
COLOR CODE: OG Trilogy - AJ - DD & SOJ - AAI1 - AA12 - TGAA 1 & 2
(AAI gets two different colors since a lot of people probably haven't played AAI2 yet. Sorry, DD and SoJ, you have to share. 'Why don't you do one color for the whole Apollo Trilo-' No <3)

---
ª: She was stabbed, right? Like, she was poisoned first, but she died from the stab wound first, if I'm correct. Do tell if I'm wrong, lmao.
*: Accidental deaths
^: Natural death
¨: Deaths by suicide
°: Executed (Joe Darke's method of execution isn't mentioned, but if we assume Japanifornia goes by Japan laws, then hanging is the only method of execution used. Probably a higher number of deaths by hanging then, whether you believe some people got executed or not. Also, a lot of the killers in TGAA probably got executed, too? I just jotted down the confirmed cases, but yeah.)
(Also, von Karma died of 'Something'. Who knows. Of being too ashamed, maybe. Sucks to be him).
I probably missed some characters/omitted them, because who knows, it's my list I guess. If I forgot someone important do let me know!

The Husky And The White Cat Shizun With Their Baobei | 2HA Fanfic
Chapter 2
It's so dark...
You groaned out in pain; everywhere in your body was hurting. You could hear the desperation in Chu Wanning's voice. He seemed worried for you. You wish that you could stay by his side, but now that you're dead, you can't. He could only face the remaining moment of suffering at the hands of Taxian-Jun, alone by himself. Would Taxian-Jun punish him for trying to escape the second time? You should have waited a few more days and made better plans; if only then, you could have successfully saved Chu Wanning. God, you felt like an idiot. But there's nothing you can do about it after you're dead. Your soul is probably wandering somewhere else in the abyss.
You could have abandoned Chu Wanning and run away yourself. But where could you have run? Taxian-Jun basically has control of the entire cultivation world; even the cultivation sects are afraid to rebel against him. Sooner or later, he'll find a way to ruin your life, even if you never truly did anything bad to him.
What the hell is the problem with him?
You calmed yourself by reminding him that it wasn't Mo Ran's fault. It was the mastermind. Shi Mei, or, should you say, Hua Binan, was behind all of this.
Curses to both Mo Ran and Hua Binan'! Fuck them both!! They are surely a chaotic duo when it comes to ruining people’s lives!
But at the same time, if only you had kept an eye on Mo Ran more often, his affection rate with Shi Mei wouldn't have risen to the point that Mo Ran would basically confuse gratitude with love. Your former self thought that it should be fine since, in the second timeline, Mo Ran later on didn't do all those horrible things to Chu Wanning like in the first timeline. But you should have checked for signs of the 1st timeline and the 2nd timeline instead of immediately assuming that it's the 2nd timeline.
While you were ranting and cursing at the unfortunate fate of you and the characters, you noticed that Chu Wanning's voices were fainting away. Did Taxian-Jun drag him away from your dead corpse? You know it was irrational to blame Taxian-Jun for your death; after all, there wasn't enough proof of him actually being your murderer. Still. He is the most suspected. Adding to the fact that he did threaten to kill you last time,.
Somehow, even though you can't hear Chu Wanning's voice again, you can still hear the sound of the rustling leaves and the bird chirping around. It would be quite peaceful if you weren't worried sick about Chu Wanning. You can't even remember how Chu Wanning died in his first life; you regret not immediately writing it down in the first place. Was it by Taxian-Jun? Probably. You opened your eyes, and after a few failed attempts, you were back in the forest that you first started in.
You got up and checked your body; there were no injuries. You were completely fine. The pain that was previously there also disappeared. Chu Wanning was also nowhere to be found. You were reborn! You weren't sure if it was reborn in the second timeline or the first timeline. But regardless, you're determined to save Chu Wanning this time.
You followed the familiar routes back to the village, and you saw the familiar faces of the villagers. It's been awhile since you visited the village. The playful, youthful kids are running and playing with each other without a single care in the world.
Ever since you left the village, you never decided to come back to visit since you had to practice for the upcoming disciple selection ceremony. And after you became a disciple of Sisheng Peak under Chu Wanning, you ended up focusing on strengthening your spiritual core. After all, only with a strong spiritual core could the other process of using stronger spiritual power be achieved. With the remaining time hanging around Chu Wanning or the other disciples. Your spiritual power wasn't improving much, even despite all the practices.
One thing you learned from those reincarnation novels is to at least make friends with the main characters, which you succeed with a few difficulties. Mo Ran was somewhat easier to approach due to his usual outgoing personality. For Chu Wanning, it was about patience and care; it was best to not rush things with Chu Wanning.
"孙女! I was looking for you. How many herbs have you collected? Did you get injured?"
That was Ying Qin, your current body's grandmother. She died a couple of months after you left the village. You remember the day that you got the news from the news sender? You did have guilt for not spending more time with her; even though she isn't your real grandmother, she still treated you with care. She didn't even hesitate to believe you when you lied to her about losing your memories.
"I'm alright, 奶奶." You took out a stack of herbs that the original Y/N had previously collected and handed them to Ying Qin. The familiar-looking, simple, loose-fitting, earthy-toned garments made of cheap natural fabrics that you have seen since you first met her. It has been quite a while, but there are some details you still remember. Ying Qin's wrinkled and weathered skin reflected a lifetime of experience with her hunched posture from all the hard work, but even despite that, she still held a genuine smile while greeting you.
The following days, you spend more time with Ying Qin, just like you used to in your second past life. One difference between this life and the past is that in this life, you choose not to mention anything about memory loss.
You remember that in your first past life, your grandmother died before you were even born. You never have the chance to meet your grandma; you only meet your grandmother on your mother's side. However, you also noticed that there aren't many facial similarities between you and Ying Qin. Even though she was slightly wrinkled, you still didn't spot any similar facial features. Perhaps it's that the genes from the mother side are more dominant; maybe that's why?
In this life, you depend on your memories of the method of cultivation to regain your spiritual core and essence. Meaning that you don't have to wait for the group of Sisheng Sect disciples to arrive. Even despite that, you still need to wait up to a year and a half.
It could have taken longer, but thanks to previous life experiences, you were able to find some herbs that're essential to boosting one's cultivation. If it weren't for those herbs, you were sure that it would take up to 3 years, even despite the earlier process.
You cursed at yourself for being reincarnated into such a weak body once again.
Something that you will never understand is that since you can sense that you have more than one spiritual essence, shouldn't you be as powerful as the other cultivators, or maybe even more powerful? Yet, your cultivation was not even better than that of Shi Mei. Shi Mei specializes in healing! He's better at healing than you are at your own cultivation. That was the reason why it was so difficult for you to successfully help Chu Wanning escape from your past life.
You suppose that fate simply likes to play a cruel joke on you.
One day, as you watched from afar as the crowd gathered around a merchant stand, you already had a feeling for what this could be about.
"Selling cultivation materials, including the books for boosting one's cultivation!" The materials were made from plastic, but the villagers didn't know that, other than the merchant and yourself. The so-called cultivation books were just writings about cultivation methods that rumors say work but actually don't. How did you know that? In your previous life, you watched the scene of a woman exposing the scammer after buying tons of the scammer's products for them to not even work at all. The scammer attempted to accuse the purchaser, saying that they probably purchased those products from elsewhere. Just when you thought that the scammer might win this case, another person said that they had seen the same exact woman purchasing those products from the stand.
In order to escape this situation, the scammer tells the crowd that he doesn't have enough money to make a refund right now, but he'll come back the next day. The villagers didn't believe him, and in the end, the scammer left his stand and ran away without giving the woman any refund.
Even with his stand on fake materials and fake books, the woman still ended up suffering a huge loss after all the prices were expensive since almost everyone got fooled into thinking it was real materials.
You looked at a similar situation in your second life.
It was once again that scummy marketing strategy, done by the same exact male merchant from last time. You remembered it in your past life; you ignored it after all; it's not your business. You heard a kid urging their mother to purchase them the materials and books. You took one step in their direction in hopes of convincing them not to make the purchases. Before backing off, upon realizing that the mother of the kid was the same exact woman that would later expose the scammer,.
Balancing the pros and cons, even if you attempt to stop them, there is no guarantee that they will listen to you. So you decided not to make a scene.
——-
One thing that you learned from your past life was to never overestimate your ability.

What are your Connor headcanons? Also if you answer this can you make a spoiler warning for anything past ac3 ?
Ooohhhh, sure! Most of my headcanons are post-AC3, though, so be warned, they're all under the cut.
I think Ratohnhaké:ton did date Dobby for a brief period after AC3, and while it didn't pan out, they parted amicably and continued to work well together over the years.
He was a total mischief-maker in his youth, which is canon, but I think Oía:ner and the others didn't have the heart to punish him very severely after Ziio's death. Luckily, only a couple of his antics were actually heart attack-inducing. Like that time he tried to get a clean shot at the eye of a bear while hanging from a tree and almost fell out in the process.
Despite the debacle when Achilles first gave it to him, he took to Shao Jun's shengbiao faster than most people would, because he understands how to use weapons that aren't just some kind of pointy stick. Despite his preferred method of running headfirst into doors and using brute force, he does have a good sense of bodily control, and knows when he needs to use more gentle force instead. A battering ram isn't necessary where only an arrow will do.
He totally delivered Norris and Miriam's baby. Didn't want to, would've preferred giving Miriam a sense of "decency," since westerners are so strict about separating men and women and covering up (I don't know what Kanien'kehá:ka norms are, but from my limited reading, it wasn't as strict?), but the doctor was picking up medicine in town, and Prudence couldn't do it alone. Norris didn't freak out as much as he could have! He and Ratohnhaké:ton hugged it out after the baby was born.
If I understand correctly, wampum jewel-making is a specialized skillset, but because at the Davenport Homestead, he was separated from his people for a long period of time, he tried it himself with the hard clams he fished out of the bay.
Ratohnhaké:ton is totally arm-wrestling Kassandra in the afterlife.
I subscribe so hard these headcanons about Ratohnhaké:ton's wife and daughter.
He also wove a wampum belt commemorating the life of Achilles and his final days.
He didn't hunt Shay, not because Shay wasn't active in North America, but because Shay was so incredibly subtle in his later work after the events of Rogue, and by the time Ratohnhaké:ton even became an Assassin, most of the Brotherhood had been wiped out. Achilles did mention Shay in passing once, not by name, just a quick mention of, "I drove someone away once, and it made all the difference." Ratohnhaké:ton, while investigating some particularly fishy deaths, had his suspicions that this "someone" was responsible, but he never really encountered Shay. He eventually uncovered more of Shay's backstory, figuring out he's the Assassin traitor, and managed to find out his name. That's as far as he got.
Ratohnhaké:ton would go on to support some of Handsome Lake and Thayandanagea's efforts to reconcile with the colonists, though they quarreled and didn't see eye-to-eye on many things.
Ratohnhaké:ton was a staunch abolitionist, for sure, for sure. The Davenport Homestead was a huge haven for freedmen, and he had to pull teeth to get white slaveowners and bounty collectors to gtfo his land. Although he would "dissolve" the Davenport Homestead before he died, it continued its operations in secret and would become a huge stronghold in the Underground Railroad.
Speaking of. "Dissolving" the Homestead. There was this huge post-AC3 storyline one of the writers was working on where he pretended that the Homestead was dissolved and that his life ended miserably, which would feed into the Abstergo disinformation later on about how his wife left him and took the kids. He did have to set fire to a few precious buildings with the help of the Homesteaders, and make a few fake documents to throw out a false paper trail, and several residents had to scatter for safety reasons, but the Homestead lived on, and stayed a particularly secret base for the Brotherhood.
Girls aren't supposed to hunt in his wife's clan, but I headcanon that he taught all his kids to defend themselves and hunt in the same manner he did Ionhiote. His own mother, after all, did things unconventionally and probably taught him a thing or two.
He eventually reunited with Oía:ner when he found them in their new home. She felt incredibly apologetic for what she did, even though she knew it was the right decision, nearly dissolving into tears, but he was just happy to see her. She lived long enough to hold her grandchildren in her arms and see her family happy at last, even in the face of losing their ancestral home.

Everything shook. Man if god doesn’t know everything is bad
Man Schlatt said the best disaster is Techno.
Everybody else hanging out on the lava pillar
Hi again god. Techno is outfitted for war.
Technoblade has been promoted to minor god.
Flying Technoblade!!! Technoplane!!!!!
A techno on the horizon sniping people with gas.
Splish splash to the village(?)
Button? Sheep?
End it all button?
I love that Techno was happy to press the button since he has an appointment
Oops. The spam kinda over killed it.
Lag? Really that’s the issue right now?
“Stop spamming meteors!” What did Tommy expect to happen? He gave it to Techno.
How are people alive in that pile of fire?
You did bad when god asks you why.
Whoop. He broke the server. Happens sometimes.
Yeah sometimes you just need to vote techno the winner.
That was a good video. I’m glad I took the study break to watch it. And it wasn’t an hour long!
Now I kinda want to rewatch the potato war while I do my work. Oh Tommy uploaded a video to his channel too about Techno. Something else to watch…. Oh it’s just hitting that it’s the anniversary.
Remember y’all Technoblade never dies

The Moon that Rises in the Day Webtoon.
Summary with Spoilers: Young-hwa has been a friend of and had a crush on Min-oh for six years, but he rejected her because he has taken over as the parent for Jun-oh, his now high school-aged brother. Jun-oh dies of a heart attack but the comes back different (possessed by Do-ha). He becomes obsessed with Young-hwa, which makes Min-oh both confused and jealous. One of Jun-oh's friends can see ghosts, knows that Jun-oh is possessed, and tells Min-oh.
Possessed Jun-oh attempts to kill Young-hwa but is prevented by a talisman. He wants to hang out with her all the time to find a way. He also has violent mood swings. Young-hwa sees the ghost of a dead teenager and ends up accusing the brother of murder (the death was ruled an accident). The brother tires to kill her, but Jun-oh protects her.
Very early Do-ha tells Young-hwa that she's his reincarnated wife and that she is murdered every reincarnation. She has consuming dreams about her past life with Do-ha where she is a Gayan refugee who is trying to survive in Silla. An idealistic younger cousin (I think) of Do-ha is trying to help the Gayans, but everything he does backfires. Do-ha attempts to work behind the scenes but also isn't doing much good. He also helped spread a rumour that the Gayans are bringing illness, at the command of his adoptive father/uncle.
Do-ha saves Ri-ta, who is living under the name of her foster sister. (Her foster sister is a Padme handmaid sort of situation, meant to protect her) He promises her that he will help the Gayans if she both agrees to marry him and murders So Ri-bu. She murders the adoptive father on her wedding night. However, this doesn't really help the Gayan situation in the end because a judge continues to work against the Gayans and many refugees have now become bandits. She is very conflicted about her life as a Silla nobleman's wife. Also, on her wedding day, the older brother (who is a monk) of her foster sister attempts to murder her. From that point on, she is tormented by the ghosts of her dead family.
In the present, they manage to eject Do-ha from Jun-oh's body, but then other ghosts attack him. He is erratic and stabs his own brother and tries to kill Young-hwa to get rid of Do-ha for good. Young-hwa stops talking with him because of this. Min-oh allows Do-ha to repossess Jun-oh to keep him safe from the other ghosts, but he hates it.
In the past, Do-ha is socially attacked for marrying a Gayan and the Gayans are driven out of the city. The monk older brother attacks Ri-ta again and Do-ha kills him; he then haunts Ri-ta. Do-ha attempts to take Ri-ta to visit Gaya, but on the way they are attacked by the son of So Ri-bu. Ri-ta attempts to kill herself so Do-ha will stop protecting her, but Do-ha grabs her arm and she ends up killing him. The ghost of Ri-ta begs Young-hwa to change her decision in the past, but Young-hwa refuses because she isn't sure what it would change in the future. Ri-ta stumbles away to kill herself but is saved by the ghost of her mother, who wants her to live and have a child (she's already pregnant). When Ri-ta dies years later, she tells the ghost of the monk that he can keep killing her if he wants. He is either possessing or the reincarnation of the guy who tried to murder Young-hwa in the present.
And then... Young-hwa tells Do-ha to just get over it and he thinks for a night and then disappears. Jun-oh will spend the rest of his life being tormented by ghosts because he's half-dead. Min-oh finally tells Young-hwa he likes her, but she says she needs time. He says he'll be the one waiting this time.
Reactions and comparisons to the drama ahead:
Jun-oh is a high school kid and Young-hwa is 6 years older than him! I can see why the drama didn't go with that, good call
Young-hwa has a crush on Min-oh from the beginning and is friends with the family, such a different set up. They are both lower middle class
I think I like the bracelet talisman more than a paper charm, but I love that her mom hid it under her phone case
Jun-oh with the fruit knife
Oh there are like, multiple ghosts floating around. Interesting. Young-hwa and Jun-oh solve a ghost murder
"I won't let anyone else kill you."
Jun-oh can sense when Young-hwa is in danger (that would have been helpful)
Wow, he told her that he was a ghost and that she gets murdered every life super early!
Possessed Jun-oh has rage in this one

(Do-ha isn't enjoying high school)
Also this one (Do-ha is back attached to Young-hwa, she makes him leave the bathroom):
Tumblr media
This is so different! Do-ha is back to being body-less and Jun-oh is kind of possessing himself? But he stabbed Min-oh
Do-ha is the evil guy's nephew and is trying to work behind the scenes to subvert him, this panel is great:
Tumblr media
Do-ha was the one who told Ri-ta to kill his adoptive father! And she got away with it! And she did it on the wedding night. Amazing
The past stuff is VERY different, also I don't think Ri-ta ever knows that Do-ha was the one who killed her parents
Now Jun-oh and Do-ha are both occupying Jun-oh's body and they are fighting internally too
Young-hwa says their marriage was a pretense and Do-ha gets all offended and is like, "No we definitely had sex." Then Young-hwa hopes she can skip dreams! Lol
If I understand correctly, Do-ha is So Ri-bu's nephew. Do-ha married Ri-bu's daughter (his cousin), but she died. So Ri-bu's son blames Do-ha for his sister's death. Strange that Do-ha was married before (and super young too).
Do-ha in Jun-oh's body asking Young-hwa not to date Min-oh because she's his wife... yeah...
Short little comic of silly things:
Tumblr media
Jun-oh actually dangling Young-hwa off a building! Not just a dream! And it wasn't even Do-ha, Jun-oh wants to kill Young-hwa so he can have his body back. This is similar to the Min-oh scene from the drama
The reason Ri-ta killed Do-ha is basically the same, they are on the run:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
the ending was honestly very unsatisfying and kind of confusing
The scene where he begs to her to live while dying is the same!
Tumblr media
Young-hwa never really tells Do-ha why Ri-ta stabbed him, she just kind of yells at him and he resolves himself on his own
The kid who murdered his brother just keeps living? Odd. And has the monk moved on now too? It's unclear.
Jun-oh will always be haunted, but Young-hwa is now free
Conclusion: It was gripping, though a bit confusing at times. I left out some odd plots, like when Jun-oh lived on the run for a few days. I can see why the drama simplified the plot and changed up the story.
The love story between Do-ha and Ri-ta was much less satisfying in this version, she really loves him against her will and it's not clear why he loves her so much. We also never know what happened to his first wife, which was odd. He's very morally grey, but without the same level of excuse.
Also, the love triangle between Jun-oh, who is underage, and Min-oh/Young-hwa was awkward. So glad there weren't any love triangles in the drama (the ex-girlfriend was just in it for her reputation.)
Anyway, it was very interesting. I enjoyed it. I do think the show did a good job keeping the main emotional points but streamlining the plot.
DM me if you want to know where to find it!
